Story Time Part 2 of A Determine Woman

Happy Wednesday
Yeah!  Story time today I am posting part 2 of my short story The Prince of Dallas: A Determine Woman, part 1 you can read from my previous post (10/19/11) or you can go to my website www.writingstoriesforfun.webs.com

In part one of the story, we learn that the Prince, the devil is celebrating to the reporter about the demise of a long time foe Annie.  Annie is in the hospital gravely ill her daughter Kimberly and her grandson Jordan visit her very concern.  Annie is not willing to give in is desiring to go to a church revival in Dallas which been held by her favorite TV preacher Brother Charles, believing that she will be heal, but Kimberly refuse to help her mother because she too sick to move.  Annie a strong will person solicited her grandson, Jordan to sneak out the house a get her car so they can make a hospital jailbreak, and the Prince is constantly in her ear telling her to stop fighting and give in to death when it finally comes

Part two of the story Annie and Jordan makes there hospital jailbreak to go the church meeting, but the Prince has a little surprise waiting for them.  Annie is what the Prince called a troublemaker, because she is a true believer in Christ and the Prince wanted to get her out of the way so he can have free access to destroy her family.  But Annie's prayers have prevented him, now part two of A Determine Woman.

The Prince of Dallas: A Determine Woman Part Two

The sunlight illuminated the black and silver 1990 Cadillac Coupe Deville, shining as if it came off the showroom floor.  The car had no scratches, dings or chip paint; the tires had chrome rims with a touch of gold.  He opens the door to sit on dark leather seats, the interior was perfect all original knobs and button with the aroma of cinnamon apple pie.  He turns the key to start the automobile swiftly lower the volume of the radio because Annie likes to play her praise music loud, The V-8 motor crank Jordan back out of the drive and proceed to the hospital.

Jordan is adapting to driving the vehicle keeping it below the speed limit he glance at the rear view mirror, sees a police car behind him, his heart drop to the floor, he was cold.  Wondering how long has that car been behind him, did someone see him take the car and reported it stolen, did his mom found out?  The emergencies light started flashing; Jordan tightens his grip on the steering wheel holding his breath.

“You are going to jail, speed up and lose this cop!”  Express the Prince.

Meanwhile Annie waiting for her grandson, she is becoming weaker and the pain constant.  She worrying did he change his mind, was he caught or worst maybe he in trouble.

“Hey grandma,” announce Jordan in a low voice pushing a wheelchair next to her bed, “I thought I wasn’t going to make it because I had a police car behind me, then he hits it light and whip around me like a bullet.”  Annie was pleased to see Jordan; he assists her into the wheelchair.  He pushes Annie past the doctors; nurses and orderly rolling down the hall into the elevator thru the lobby into her automobile, putting it in gear leaving the parking lot, the Prince sitting in the back seat.

“You are a fool, this will not work your grandson will see you die,” said the Prince, “why fight it’s over, you can’t stop death.”

Touring down the highway Annie trying to relax in her seat embracing herself looking out the window reassure in her mind that she is doing the right thing leaving the hospital and getting her grandson involve.  Jordan would glance at her to see if she comfortable hoping his driving is not causing any addition discomfort.  An hour later, they arrive at the church where the meeting is to take place the vehicle turn into the parking lot of the mega church and they both are puzzle, they did not see the amount of cars they was expecting for a major revival.

“Are we at the right place?” ask Annie

“Yes ma’am, I check his website and put the address in my GPS.” Reply Jordan, he roll the car to the main building leaps out to run inside to get information.

“Surprise, now you will give up,” Spoke the Prince grinning, “I admire your effort in this fight, but you are defeated.”

Jordan step out of the doors head down walking slowly to the car.  “What happen, are we at the right place, was it change for tomorrow?” inquire Annie.

“This is the right place,” explains Jordan depress, “The meeting was cancel.”

“Why!”  Annie is shock.

“Well the lady in there said Brother Charles has been accused of breaking the law scamming people out there money.”

“That not true, he is a good man!”  Cry out Annie, Jordan turn the dials of the radio hopping to find news.  He landed on a talk show.

“Welcome back friends, it seem like all you want to talk about is the breaking news from earlier this afternoon from Little Rock,” male talk show host voice,  “Charles Goodman, everybody knows as Brother Charles, ministries headquarters files was siege by the Post Master General in Little Rock no charges has been file as of yet.  Rumors are that indictments are coming next week, so one our local mega churches that were hosting a meeting tonight got spook and cancel.  So far, the televangelist and his team are still at the hotel and I guess hiding under their beds, line one you are on the air.”

An old man voice, “I’m sick and tired of these so called men of God flying in their private jets, riding in there in fancy cars, wearing expense suits making money off dump poor people perverting the Bible for gain.  I’m glad someone is doing something about that, my pastor drive an old beat up car and when he travel is always go Greyhound bus as it should be.”

“Well said, thank you caller, folks when I did attend church a few years back our pastor wanted to get a new car but I was on the deacon board and was against that because how it would look.  What would it look like if our pastor drove around in a new car when some of our members could not get a car or they were struggling with paying their bills.  Now I want to be fair and balance I want supporters of this slither Brother Charles to call, ok line 2 you are on the air.”

A male voice, “I think Charles is a good man, when he preach he make the Word come alive…”

“So caller you support a thief who take money from dumb and sick people and make wild and crazy promises, thank you next line 3.”

A woman voice, “I supported Brother Charles for years because a miracle that I receive…”

“Personally thinking it’s a miracle that he got away with this trick for so long, now he has been proven to be an evil man.   In our next segment I want to explore the type of people who fall for this pie in the sky; blab it and grab it…”

Jordan switch off the radio, Annie press her head against the window eyes closed tight as she repeated softly, “It’s not true, it’s not true.”

“You know it’s true,” spoke the Prince, “search your emotion and you know it true, go back to that nice hospital bed and die with dignity.”  Jordan cell phone is buzzing and chirping, they both glance at the screen, Kimberly calling.  “Answer the phone, tell her where you at, it was a nice try but you fail; when the chip are down you know that your Faith has fail you.”  The Prince settles back delighted.

Jordan elevates the phone and send the call to voice mail then he dials a number. “Hello,” said Jordan in a deep voice, “I have a delivery for Charles Goodman can you tell me what hotel is at.”  He call the church phone number, “Yes the Hilton Dallas West, thank you.”  He disconnects the call looking at Annie.  “We should go to the hotel maybe we can find him.”  She did not respond, tears slowly emerging down her face.

Jordan has seen his grand mother cried many times in his life, he seen her weep at church during an emotional praise service, at funerals and when she mediate about her deceased mother or husband.  However, these tears are difference it is the sobbing of no hope and he know in his heart he needed to say or do something, but what?  Suddenly a song appears in his mind lyric that he heard his grandma sung before.  He felt compel to sing the song.  He put the car in gear leaving the church parking lot heading towards the hotel.  Viewing his grandma droop in the car seat Jordan decided to sing the song:

            I feel like going on,
I feel like going on
Thought trials come on every hand
I feel like going on

The Prince howl with laughter, “What are you doing singing that nursery rhyme that not going help her,” chuckling grabbing the reporter arm, “If this illness don’t kill her, your sinning will.”  Jordan continues singing.

            I feel like going on,
I feel like going on
Thought trials come on every hand
Annie ceases from crying raise her head wiping tears from her eyes started to sing with Jordan the lyrics of the praise song.  The Prince laughter stops shaking his head with disgust.  “You both are ridiculous, you are not going to find Brother Charles and if by some chance you do he can’t heal you.”

Part three will be posted next Wednesday.

I need to think like God!

The beginning of 2011 I had high hope to do a lot things but on paper, it is a financial bust, a new job I was waiting to start that I had last year which ended because the company I was working for lost it government contract.  A new company won the contract and they rehire all the old contractors like me, they made some changes in the pay scale but I was willing to work it because I really like the job.  However, to my disappointment it never pan out, the work was slow and I did not even approach making the money as before.  I know now I should have just tried harder looking for another job, no I hope that it would pick up so I could catch up on the bills.

It didn’t happen I lost my car so I was not able to that job so now I am started over but I know God will bless, the problem that I’m facing is all of my own causing, but God can take my mess and turn it around, I know I seen it done in the past.  Everything I wanted to for the church and other things I will have to put on hold but I know I will do with God’s help.  Now 2011 were not all bad I believe that I have grown in the Lord because starting this year I decide to read the Old Testaments in one year and I still on track to finish.  I thought in the past I would not be able to do that but to my amazement, I found myself enjoying.  I think by doing that reading the bible more broke something in me so now I am writing short stories again instead only dreaming to do and not doing it.  There more I believe God is speaking to in dreams because I know one dream I know I am living through it now.
I prayed I want to hear God speak to me and I confess in my prayers that I do hear Him; I want to think like God.  The problems I am going through is not too hard for God, He is not worried and if He did sleep no trouble there, (God does not sleep or slumber).  I want to operate without fear and if I am afraid to believe Him and do it anyway, I am going to be happy in the mist of the storm, Praise God!  I know I need to get in his presence more and cut off the world as much as possible that how I will come up and out of this hole that I put myself in, but I know God is wonderful, Amen.

I lose when my teams win, how weird

Happy Monday,
2011 in North Texas professional sport teams has been great in June the Dallas Mavericks won their first NBA Finals and as I write this blog the Texas Ranger are tied 2-2 in the MLB World Series, as a fan this is wonderful.  But I notice something about when my local teams make it to the top of league it seem to happen at my low point in my life, now you may say this is a one time incidents, but it’s not is a strange thing that keeps happen to me or my family here a list starting with 2011.

2011 Mavs wins Finals, Rangers in the World Series-I will less money this year since I started working at my first job.
2010 Rangers made the World Series for the first time ever-I have a job that I like it was so fun but the company lost its contract with government.
2006 The Mavs went to the NBA Finals for the first time as a team-The job I had laid me off it was a very good well paying job that I had for almost 10 years.
(Hey their more, smile)
2000 The Dallas Stars made the Stanly Cup Series for the second time after winning it all the year before-At the end of that year my mom died after being sick that whole year.
1992-1995 The amazing Dallas Cowboys the best team in the NFL won three Super Bowls-for our family struggling eating one meal a day moving from apartment to apartment.
1977-1980 The Dallas Cowboys made it to the Super Bowls and NFC Championship games-This may be the worst that family went through my parents divorce and we left our church, the 80’s was looking very bad as a family unit.

Looking back, it seems depressing that so many bad things happen at the time these teams saw great success, but I do not blame them it was maybe just bad timing.  I know most our problems that hit my family and I was our own making.  As is the years of 77 to 80 my parents divorce the choices they made put the family at the edge, but I see now that God kept us despite ourselves.  I know my mom at the time of that trail maybe was in shock going through a battle and losing she was not looking forward to tomorrow because all she can see is ‘What’s next going to happen wrong.’  The church we was in couldn’t help, now if know they didn’t know how because they had no concept of the Holy Ghost, but God lead my mom to an amazing woman who eats and breath the Holy Spirit and like my mom said about her “She talk to God as though He is real.”

I know that the entire problem that I listed God in his love and power brought us up and out of every bad situation.  Today I can see 2011 come to an end it was a great year for spiritual growth even doe my money is funny so I do not know I hard should I cheer for the Cowboys to win the Super bowl in 2012, what a problem.

Happy Wednesday
The middle of the week it time for a story, Yeah!  I written a short story that I hope you find entertaining, now it a little long so I broke in to three segments, part 1 this week, Part 2 and 3 in the following weeks.

Introduction

The name of the story is The Prince of Dallas: A Determine Woman part 1 is a story about the Prince (the Devil) trying to keep control of his kingdom, but he fight a group of people that he called the troublemakers.  These people are not under his power; they are true believers in Christ and use His authority in them, which destroy the Prince plans.  In this story the Prince has the upper hand on one troublemaker name Annie, he given her a deadly illness that has overtaken her body causing to die and he is celebrating, but Annie doesn’t good without a fight.

I hope you enjoy reading.

The Prince of Dallas:
A Determine Woman

The reporter stroll into the penthouse office in a high-rise structure with enormous window views of downtown Dallas. The suite is magnificent with huge paintings on the wall of attacking lions, charging tigers, striking snakes and snapping alligators.   The Prince with a proud smirk is sitting on a humongous ornate leather chair behind a dark rosewood desk with gold trim.

“May I ask a question before we start?” ask the reporter positioned at the desk with Smartphone in hand, the Prince nodded yes,  “Will the mark of the beast be a barcode, a computer chip device insert under the skin or credit card ID system?”

He look intently at the reporter chuckle his voice deepen with a high pitch scream, laughing tears roll down his cheeks, “Do you think I need mans little toys for my mark?”

“Well the mark of the beast is not here yet, but will come in the future to control everybody.”  Declared the reporter

“What you called the mark of the beast is already here, and I suggest that every person receive one, it’s very simple to get, if your first love is not on Him then…”

“You mean Jesus.”

“Ok if you must say His name, if your first love is not…Jesus,” the Prince pause rolled his eyes, “then you love me and you will get my mark.  If you love money, power, things or pleasures more than Him I will pounded a mark in your forehead.  If you love yourself, this world system, your gifts or talents and education more than Jesus,” he pauses again, “then I nail my mark in your hand showing that you are mines.”

The Prince stood up from his desk and promenade to a door at the far end of the office, “Now I want to show you something I’m very excited about, the demise of a troublemaker.”  He opens the door, which leads to a hospital room.  The reporter step in viewing an elderly woman in her late 70’s, lying in bed weak and feeble trying to relax but pain darts continue hitting her body making her moan.  “Here lies a great warrior, Annie!”

“I thought you did not like troublemakers.”

“No I hate them all, but I do respect my enemies,” the Prince drawing closer to the bed, “I study them, looking for any weakness I can used to defeat them and I found Annie weakness.”

“What was it?”

“You would think this illness is her weakness because this was the same disease blame for killing her mother and other women in her family, and I made sure that Annie knew this.  She tries to eat right, exercise and keep her weight under control and that delay it, but she always fear it in her heart and that kept it alive till now it has over taken her.”  The Prince grinning at Annie, her youngest daughter Kimberly and her 15-year-old grand son Jordan enter into the room timidly.  The Prince glare at them, “We have fought many battles over the years, but it looks like I’m going to win the last one,” he stroll along side of Kimberly. “Many of the battles was over them, her babies, her prayers has block me from fully doing what I really wanted to do to them.  When she dies they won’t be able to resist me.”

“Why can’t they be able to resist you?”

“Because I sent them the best colleges and taught them all of this world wisdom and values so in their heart they replace their mother teaching with the world and I control the world. “  Then he sniff Kimberly eyes closed enjoying the aroma smiling, “fear,” then he glance at Jordan frowning, “that one I need to destroy now because he is a troublemaker and he don’t even know it yet, hurry up and die Annie, so I can have them.”  The Prince laughs and dances around the room.

Kimberly touches her mother’s hand as her eyes opens, “Mom how do you feel?”

“I’m blessed,” answered Annie, Kimberly seeing tense facial expression when the pain hit her body then she relaxes as it ease.

“No mom are you hurting?”

“Oh I’m ok it doesn’t hurt that much.”

Kimberly worrying that her mother has been in pain all day pressing the call button for the nurse, Annie don’t want medicine because it make her drowsy and difficult to concentrate when praying.  Seeing Jordan standing at the edge of the bed, she reaches out for him to come closer to her.

“I think you are getting taller,” said Annie, “You know when you were born you was a preemie,” Jordan heard the story a million time, but he kept smiling at his grandma as she tell her story.  “Your mother was afraid you going to die, but I and the other women of the church prayed to God in a circle of Faith and the next day you started to gain weight and look at you now, God is good.” In telling that story, Annie realizes that she misses her TV program and she wants Jordan to change the channel to see if it showing on another station.

“What show I’m looking for?”  Ask Jordan

“Oh you know Brother Charles Faith Power show,” Jordan found the show on another station but it just ended showing commercial of Brother Charles itinerary, he turns up the volume of the TV.  The commercial played saying that Bro. Charles and the Power Faith team is meeting one night only in Dallas, Saturday tonight, a cold chill came over Annie because she thought the meeting was next week.  She desire to go to that revival because she knew in her heart if she does not make that service she will die.

“Kimberly, get my clothes,” Commanded Annie, raising the bed up so she can stand, “I got to go the meeting tonight.”  Kimberly concern and baffle at her mother preventing her from moving out of the bed.

“No mom, you are too sick to go anywhere.”  Order Kimberly raising her voice, they both argue back and forward, Annie trying to convince Kimberly that she need to go to Brother Charles meeting and Kimberly refusing to listen then a tremendous pain hit Annie like a punch to the body,  she fell back in bed.  “Are you ok?”  Ask Kimberly, Annie nodded yes they both were silent.

“You should listen to your daughter,” said the Prince resting along Annie in bed, “Stop…Give up…You are done, the Lord is not going to save you he has abandon you.”

Kimberly deeply stress left the room to find a doctor to check her mother, Annie desperate to go the meeting but not knowing how to get there notice Jordan sitting across the room staring at her.  She beckons Jordon come close to her.

“Jordan, I need to get to that meeting tonight, I know in my soul that I will be healed,” said Annie in a whisper.

“Mom doesn’t want you to go because you are too sick.”

“I know, but I need someone to take me, I want you to get my car keys out of my bag,” she stops shaking her head, “No that ok…”

“Grandma what you want me to do?”

“I can’t ask you to do this you’re just a baby, I can’t.”

“I will do whatever you want, tell me I will do.”  Touching her forearm, Annie peeks around him to make sure no one listening.

“Hold on to my keys when you get home sneak out the house and go get my car, drive it up here around six, that when it shift change, by the time they notice I’m gone we will be at Brother Charles meeting.”  Jordan nodded yes, “You will get in trouble and your mother is going to ground you for life.”

“That alright, because two weeks ago I was ground forever, Grandma is there an age when you stop getting spanking for doing wrong?” leering at him, Annie ponders the question.

“No, I need to take a stick to all of my kid now and they are in there’s 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, I sent them all to college and they all just got stupid, I should have kept my money.”

“I won’t go to college grandma.”

“You gotta to go, because your mother will kill me and beat you if you don’t go, but promise me you won’t let them take Jesus away from you in their.”

“Yes, grandma,” said Jordan, Kimberly enter into the room with the doctor.  An hour later Annie insists that she go home, take a nap, and come back in the evening.  Kimberly agreed and she left with Jordan, Annie smile then she calls for a nurse to help her get into her dress.  The young nurse refuses to help but Annie explain that she want to look cute before an old boyfriend come to see her and the nurse had compassion help her with her dress.

“You should be ashamed of yourself,” said the Prince, “Bad grandma, having your grandson go behind his mother back take your car and drive without a license, breaking the law, so you can go to that meeting, Shame on you for encouraging juvenile delinquent behavior from him.”

“Prince should you be encouraging that type of behavior from young people?” ask the reporter.

“It all about the motive,” glaring at the reporter, “If that boy was going to sneak out and take Annie car to go see a girl, buy weed or pile his friend and drive recklessly that would have been awesome.  But that boy is not doing this for selfish reasons, he is doing it out of compassion and love for his grandma hopping to save her life, which is wrong, this world would be a mess if every young person acted like that boy.”

Kimberly and Jordan arrive home she settles on the couch tired from worrying and stressing about her mother drifted off to sleep.  Seeing his chance, Jordan, quietly slip out the house running toward grandma home five blocks away.  Arriving near he surveillance the area to see if anybody outside could see him entering into the garage, detecting nobody he press the garage door opener the door climb to revile grandma ride.

Thinking about the past

Last week I was remembering a book that I had when I was a child around maybe 7 or 8 years old at the time, I cannot tell you what trigger this rush of fond memories about that book.  My Book of Bible Stories publishes by the Jehovah Witness, O yes that was our church back then.  Our family joins about 1976, looking at that religion now with much older eyes their belief where very far left, of the main Christian ideals, but at the time I loved that book.

I’m trying to think why I like that book so much, it was hard bound bright yellow and the lettering written in cursive in vivid red color, before I had another book it was small pink cover called The Great Teacher, nice little stories about the teaching of Jesus.  That book did not have a lot of picture, boring!  However, the other book had big wonderful picture every other page and it told the whole story of the bible in order.  I do not how many times I read that book, but I know at the time I discover classic radio show because dad pawn the TV, so I was force to listen to the radio and old WFAA radio 570 played those wonderful shows.  That station was all news and at 7pm they would broadcast programs like The Jack Benny Show, I thought that show was genius.  I would record them with my tape recorder and play them back pretending I was a program director and I add my favorite book has part of the programs, I would read it aloud and time myself so I would only take 15 or 30 minutes, that was fun.

Today I would love to have that copy I know there update volumes, but I like that one maybe one day I will come across that book, its funny the things you remember sometimes.

Traitor to the People?

Meet the Press Link of the Herman Cain interview
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032608/vp/44921414#44921414

Happy Monday,
I should have expected this was going to happen because it always does, Herman Cain business man, author and associate minister at his church, is part of the small group of people vying for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012.  When I first saw him, I did not know who is was, but I assume he would fizzle out of the race by now.  However, surprise, surprise he is riding top of the polls, which made him a huge target for the race hater’s attacks

You may ask who or what is the race haters; Black political leaders, social commentors that mostly left bending, liberal Democratic people, when they object to a difference opinion they can’t help questioning if that person is a real black man.  There are other names calling they used that slip out that are very insulting; to me I only been on this planet 42 years and I seen this tied old song before (a bad eight track that will not stop playing).  When I hear those words I want to turn off the radio or change the TV channel because I don’t want to hear it because to me wonder who made them the judge and jury of who’s black enough, it like a person in 19th Century saying the slaves wasn’t human that why we can treat them that way.  It make me want to know what is this person saying or believing to get the fury from these haters, then I found out this person like Herman is a stable man, married to his wife for over 40 years, successful business man and active in his church.  I’m sorry even if I disagree with all of his policy he still a man I would admire and I would tell any young person watch him and learn something.  Why do these haters seem pick on men and women that are benefit to society and they are blind to the ones truly hurting people like the criminals.

I watch Herman on Meet The Press and I thought he performs well in answering the tough question, he not polish like some of the politicians running but I like the rawness because he seem real.  I personally do not know if he will the get nomination because I do not trust these polls numbers are real, the only poll I want to look at is the money poll.  Rick Perry, Texas Governor, is falling like a rock in these polls but he raising ton of cash that tell me something is a miss, when people give their money they believe and are passionate that you can win.  Herman only has a million dollars on hand and I know he will need more than that.  Therefore, if he does not raise my opinion at lease 10 million dollars by December these polls number now are like smoke with no fire.

But you know maybe he can make some noise and stick around and who knows he might get what he vying for, oh that would be fun to see two black men battling for the White House spending over billions dollars holding there party banners, wow, I will break out the popcorn an enjoy watching that heavy weight fight.

God’s Bless like Cooking Blueberry Muffins

Last night I cooked a package of blueberry muffins, well this package has been in the pantry for at lease a couple of years, well past the manufacture best by date.  I would see it in there and I wanted to cook it but I did not have any milk, it needed a half a cup to mix.  This week I, bought milk and cereal for the first time in six months, real whole milk not the 2% that I always buy (in true the store I went to that was the only one I could buy).

Turn the oven on to 425 degrees and open the blueberry muffins bag and it look good, pour into the bowl add my milk stir until it was nice and blended.  I spray my muffin pan with Pam for a cake, which is so awesome if you bake cakes because you just spray and you do not have to dip your fingers in the shorting and throw flour at it so it can stick to the pan, Opps I am getting off track, sorry.  Spoon in the mixture into the six little holders, do not over fill, then pop into the oven let cook about 20 minutes.

I stood close to the oven and every 5 minutes I peek at them and it like nothing is happening, I check at 10 minutes and 15 minutes not much going on that I can see.  Then around the 17 or 18-minute mark, I saw brown at edge and the crown forming and of course, you can smell it yummy aroma it ready.  Take a toothpick run in the muffin it come out clean remove so it can cool down.  I ate one it was so good I have to hold myself back from eating another.

Now you make ask how this wonderful tale likes God blessing.  I am glad you ask the package of muffins is us God from birth put everything we need to succeed in life, the milk is his Word mix it together so become apart of it.  The oven is God spirit it’s Hot it going to make what got in you gel together for that finish product, but in the process it look like nothing is happening that when your faith come in to believe in God that he working on the inside.  At the end I bloom and have a sweet aroma to God, because if I take what God giving me adds the Word and let the spirit mode me I am praising God.

Now I am out the oven cool down so I can feed to a hungry world a testimony to God goodness and grace.

One Year Since my Pastor went to Heaven Part 2

My last blog I wrote about the church is coping after my pastor went home to be the Lord in heaven; our church is strong and moving forward in our community hopping by the end of this year to be in our new building.  I want to focus what observed that last year that my pastor, Dwain Hobbs that made me say “Hmmmm”.

That final year he let his daughter preach most of the Sunday services and the Wednesday talk, but he was there for every service to give support and if the Word hit his spirit, he would share it.  His daughter, Darla Shirley, has that same fire for the God then and now.   Pastor I notice a few time he would join the band with his guitar and mimic playing with them, sound odd.  He loved music especially the horns, I personal think we have the best blue/jazz gospel band in Dallas (It Great!).

Pastor for years taken guitar lesson for many years and the church offer free guitar lesson any child that wanted to learn.  I think on stage with his guitar pretending to make music he had so much fun, it was like a little child that wants to do what the old kids does and he so happy just be with them.  That is my pastor; I thought to my self that he is so comfortable with God.

What do I mean comfortable with God, I think at first our concept of God is a person to be afraid because He almighty God which is true, but when you learn about Jesus and His love over time he become Abba Father (Daddy).  He does not lose the almighty part but he dad too.  Making me to say Hmmm, I wonder if we can get so close that we fade between two worlds the natural and the spiritual.  I know this is wired, but I wonder if you can get so “comfortable” that you just walk into heaven and do not come back because it too good.

Hmmm.

One Year Since my Pastor went to Heaven

In October of 2010, my pastor Dwain Hobbs (God World Church in Dallas Tx) went home to be with the Lord a total shock to the church and his family, because he was not sick he made it to church every Sunday praising the Lord.  His daughter Darla Shirley, the current pastor, inform the church that he died Saturday at his home; he decided to jog to the mailbox where they found him.

I imagine that when he was jogging he saw Jesus at the end and left this world and ran into His loving arms, ‘well done good and faithful servant.’  That surprises other and me because we did not foresee that our prayers were mainly for his wife because she misses church a lot due to her illness, but today she getting stronger everyday.

My pastor had one message that he preach every Sunday, Faith in God, now he would come at it in many direction but Faith in God and give your tithes, not because the church need the money, but so you can activate your Faith and received the blessing God has for you.

Darla our pastor has taken the mantle and is leading us to Rise Up Higher in God Word and brings other with us.  We want to take the foundation that Dwain set to do greater things our outreach that we do has double and some time triple like the Summer Kid feeding program and the back to school Shoe Ride to name a couple, for a church on a good day that has about 30 people in the service, Praised God!

I thank God for allow me to see a man who totally trust in God and saw and did great miracles, because I know if he did that well I can too in Jesus name.

Another great Ken Burn's documentary

Last night I was flipping channels with my remote trying find something to watch because I didn't want to view Sunday Night Football (Jets and Ravens). I guessed I had enough football after witnessing the melt down of my team the Cowboys against the Lions, but that football. I landed on PBS channel 13 in Dallas and watch the latest documentary from Ken Burns's called Prohibtion. The law that prevented the sale and manufacture of alcohol for the entire country.

Watching this program show more than what I learn about this in school, the clash of cultures, races and gender. The show was fun to watch one reason I like how Ken can tell a story and I love history programs. I don't know if Ken is the greatest documentarian but I bet he's in the top five.

A few notes I took from the program, the power of women coming together using their political muscle. This at a time between 1870 to 1920 they did not have the vote, but their victory had half the county with some form of alcohol laws or out right bans on the books before Prohibion.

The birth of the modern day policial action group organize and single minded on one goal, I can see that focus on group today like the Tea Party and ACLU.

I found it amazing how one law destroy the largest industries in the county and I wonder was that one of the causes of the great depression because all of those jobs and investments lost.

The show is well made even doe it slanted to the alcohol wet side, but I think it tries tobe fair on both side wet or dry.

I'm looking forward to see part two next week and if you go to http://www.pbs.org/ you can watch part one.
